Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how Fuchsoto Group LLC ("we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, and protects information when you use the Discover Aruba mobile application (the "App"), available on the Apple App Store and Google Play Store.
1. Information We Collect
Location Data
With your permission, the App collects both precise and approximate (coarse) location data from your device. Location data is used to:
- Show your position on the island map and provide turn-by-turn navigation;
- Display nearby beaches, restaurants, attractions, and businesses;
- Send location-based alerts and offers when you are near a featured location (geofencing).
If you grant "Always Allow" location permission, the App accesses your location in the background — including when the App is closed or not in use — in order to deliver geofenced alerts. Background location access is required for geofencing to function. You can change or revoke location permissions at any time in your device settings, though geofenced alerts will not work without it. The App's map features can also be used offline.
Account Information
If you create an account, we collect your name, your email address, and a unique account identifier (user ID) assigned to you. This information is collected through our authentication providers, Firebase Authentication and Google Sign-In, and is used to operate your account and let you save preferences and redeem offers.
Device and Usage Information
We collect device information — including device type, operating system, app version, a device identifier, and a push notification token — to operate the App, deliver notifications you opt into, and diagnose technical problems.
We also collect usage and analytics information about how you interact with the App, including screens viewed, features used, session length and frequency, geofence entry and exit events, and crash and error reports. This information is processed through Firebase Analytics and stored in our Cloud Firestore database.
2. How We Use Information
- To provide the App's core features: maps, navigation, listings, and offers;
- To operate geofencing and send location-based alerts and promotional offers you have opted into;
- To create, secure, and authenticate your account;
- To operate, maintain, secure, and improve the App, including analyzing usage, fixing bugs, and measuring performance;
- To respond to your questions and support requests;
- To comply with legal obligations.
We do not sell your personal information.
3. Legal Basis for Processing (EEA/UK Users)
Where the GDPR or UK GDPR applies, we rely on the following legal bases: consent for background location access, push notifications, and analytics; performance of a contract for account creation, authentication, and delivery of the App's core functionality; and legitimate interests for security, fraud prevention, and diagnosing technical faults. Where we rely on consent, you may withdraw it at any time through your device permission settings or by contacting us. Withdrawal does not affect processing carried out before the withdrawal.
4. Sharing of Information
We do not sell your personal information. We share information in these limited situations:
- Google / Firebase. We use Firebase Authentication, Cloud Firestore, Firebase Analytics, Firebase Cloud Messaging, and Google Sign-In to operate the App. These services process your account data, device identifiers, and usage data on our behalf. - Mapbox. We use Mapbox for mapping and navigation services, which processes location data for that purpose. See Mapbox's Privacy Policy.
- Aggregated data. We may share aggregated, non-identifying statistics (for example, how many users viewed an offer) with business partners and advertisers. This data does not identify you personally.
- Legal requirements. We may disclose information if required by law or to protect our rights, our users, or the public.
5. International Transfers
Our service providers may store and process data on servers located outside your country, including in the United States. Where required, these transfers are covered by appropriate safeguards such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses.
6. Data Retention
We keep personal information only as long as needed for the purposes described in this policy.
Your account information (name, email, user ID) and your geofence event records — logs of when you entered or left a featured location — are retained until you delete your account. We do not retain a continuous history of your raw location: location is evaluated on your device, and only geofence events are recorded.
Device identifiers, including push notification tokens, are retained while the App is installed and associated with your account, and are deleted when the token is invalidated or the account is deleted. Analytics data collected through Firebase Analytics is retained for 2 months, after which it is automatically deleted.
When you delete your account in the App, your account record, geofence event history, and associated identifiers are deleted immediately, except where we are legally required to retain certain records for longer.
7. Your Rights and Choices
- Location. You can change or revoke location permissions at any time in your device settings.
- Notifications. You can turn off push notifications in your device settings.
- Access and correction. You may request a copy of, or a correction to, the personal information we hold about you.
- Portability and objection. You may request a copy of your data in a portable format, and object to or request restriction of certain processing.
- Deletion. You can delete your account and its associated data at any time from within the App via Settings → Delete Account. See our Account Deletion page for instructions.
Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under applicable privacy laws, including the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority. To exercise any right, contact us using the details below.
8. Children's Privacy
The App is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
9. Security
We use reasonable administrative and technical safeguards, including encryption in transit and access controls on our systems, to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to protect your data against unauthorized access, loss, or misuse.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated version on this page and revise the effective date above. Material changes will be communicated through the App.
